The beautiful Kay Nichole first drew my attention on social media. I actually watched her for a few months to see how ambitious she was as a model. To my liking, Kay was working hard, consistently and every other day she was completing photoshoots, runway shows, etc.

This model wanted success bad and at that point, I decided to interview Ms. Kay Nichole. Check out our informative interview and learn what’s on Kay’s mind.

Model Kay Nichole Outdoor OutfitLateek: What city were you born and raised?

KayNichole: I was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in California and New York.

Lateek: Where does your artistic influence come from and when did you start modeling?

KayNicole: My artistic influence comes from first my mother she was always and still does have a flair for colors and styles in both clothing and décor. Others include Angela Bassett, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Rhianna.

I started modeling when I was a baby until about 10. As an adult, I’ve been modeling since Jan 2016 officially.

Lateek: Everyone has to start somewhere. What was your first job?

KayNichole: My first job was at “Pet Supplies Plus” a long island-based pet store. I love animals and they gave me a discount when purchasing items for my own pets.

Lateek: What does true beauty mean to you?

KayNichole: True beauty is on the inside; how one carries themselves in front and behind the camera.

Lateek: What was your most memorable challenge as a Model?

Model Kay Nichole Sexy SkirtKayNichole: My most memorable challenge is when the photographer wanted me to bend in a certain position. It was a little painful but we did get the shot.

Lateek: Who is your dream photographer to work with?

KayNichole: Wow, that’s a challenging question. I can’t say because every photographer has their own style and I enjoy embracing different ones (styles). It might bring out my own creativity for shoot.

Lateek: If you had one modeling wish, which runway show would you love to walk the runway for?

KayNichole: I would love to walk the runway for Moschino.

Lateek: What advice do you have for other aspiring models?

KayNichole: Advice I would have for aspiring models is that there is no such things as roadblocks there may be speedbumps and potholes; if there isn’t a road map to follow create your own. Everyone was given a talent for a reason be creative in how you get your talent to shine.

Lateek: What upcoming event or fashion show are you looking forward to?

KayNichole: I’m looking forward to all the shows I’m blessed to walk in. Every designer/show has their own uniqueness.

Lateek: What is your biggest quality that makes you stand out from other models?

KayNichole: My biggest quality is my brand. I have locs, I’m a black professional in a predominantly Caucasian field and I’m a model. I’m showing that models no longer fit the stereotype.

I’m creating a movement that locs are not dreadful and that people can share their multitude of talents and not be ashamed to love more than one thing at the same time; but most importantly that the body, mind, and spirit are one.

That science and artwork together and are expressed in most of what we do. I want to make a difference in people’s lives.

Model Kay Nichole Leather One-Piece SkirtLateek: What is your dream magazine you would love to be featured in for a photoshoot & layout?

KayNichole: I would love to be in Essence Magazine. I grew up looking at that magazine and admiring all the beautiful women in the ads and the women for their amazing accomplishments.

Lateek: What modeling work are you most proud of & why?

KayNichole: I’m most proud of all my modeling work because I take away a nugget of knowledge each time however specifically my runway work. I’m most proud of this because it’s taken me a while to be comfortable with people watching me.

Lateek: If you had to describe yourself in two words, what would they be?

KayNichole: Dang only two words…blessed & courageous.

Lateek: Are you signed to a modeling agency?

KayNichole: No not at this time.

Final Thoughts: Loved my deep interview with the lovely Kay Nichole. I even learned more about her during our session. I wish Kay the best of success and achieving her goals. Also, I hopes she can be my tour guide around New York next time in town for New York Fashion Week.
